Commissioner Larry Rogers Jr and elected officials will hold a final property tax appeal seminar for Hyde Park Township on April 21st

Commissioner Larry R. Rogers, Jr. of the Cook County Board of Review, along with 3rd Ward Alderman Pat Dowell, 4th Ward Alderman Shirley Newsome, 5th Ward Alderman Leslie Hairston, 7th Ward Alderman Sandi Jackson, 8th Ward Alderman Michelle Harris, 10th Ward Alderman John Pope, 20th Ward Alderman Willie Cochran, 3rd Legislative District Senator Mattie Hunter, 33rd Legislative District State Representative Marlow Colvin, and 13th Legislative District Senator Kwame Raoul, will be hosting two joint property tax appeal forums on Thursday, April 21, 2011. One will take place at Kenwood Academy located at 5015 S. Blackstone (in the auditorium) from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the other at Rainbow Push, located at 930 E. 50th St. (in the community room) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) will also be on hand to provide additional information to taxpayers.

While this event is being hosted for residents of Hyde Park Township it is also open to all those who feel they have been over assessed and own property within the Townships of Bloom, Elk Grove, Jefferson, New Trier, Orland, Proviso, Hanover, Leyden, Northfield, Palatine, Schaumburg, Thornton, Lake, Lemont, North Chicago, South Chicago, West Chicago, Worth and Wheeling. The forum will consist of a presentation, where the function of the Cook County Board of Review, issues surrounding property taxes, and the importance of filing a property tax appeal will be discussed. After the presentation there will be a question and answer period, after which Board of Review staff will assist attendees with filling out appeal forms. As mentioned, City and State Officials, as well as Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) will also be available to answer questions and provide additional information. Taxpayers are urged to please bring their tax bill to the event.
