March is National Nutrition Month

Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the United States, contributing to the increasing prevalence and costs of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke felt in communities all across the nation.

The Food and Drug Administration recently revamped its food guidelines, focusing on what a well balanced plate of food should look like, honing in on portion size. This month, start taking better care of yourselves by making healthier nutrition choices. Go to www.eatright.org for sound advice on healthy eating, as sponsored by the American Dietetic Association. The 2013 theme is “EAT RIGHT, YOUR WAY, EVERY DAY”.
