Cook County is Looking for Residents to Serve on the Zoning Board of Appeals

COOK COUNTY IS LOOKING FOR RESIDENTS TO SERVE ON THE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALSThe Zoning Board of Appeals considers all rezoning appeals pertaining to land uses in unincorporated Cook County.  Public hearings for Map Amendments and/or Special Use applications are conducted in the township in which the property is located and in such a way as to decide a just and lawful determination of issues involved.  The Board’s first concern is the interest of the public when determining zoning requests.

Members are appointed by the President of the County Board and serve five year terms.  Members receive compensation of $500 per official meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals, not to exceed $12,000.

Applications will be accepted online until Sunday, June 2 at 11:59 PM.  All applicants will be notified of our decision within three weeks of the close of the application period. 

Cook County residents with knowledge of zoning laws and/or real estate analysis are encouraged to apply.  Please note that appointment to the Zoning Board of Appeals will be contingent on successfully passing a criminal background check.
