Cook County Department of Homeland Security - Emergency Operations Center. Construction Managed by Capital Planning.
Renovated Robert J. Stein Institute conference room. Construction was manged by Capital Planning (shown above).
As part of the Cook County Capital Improvement Plan the Robert J. Stein Institute received a capital renovation. The intent of this project was to renovate the existing 2,000 square foot Stein Institute conference and training room located at the Office of the Cook County Medical Examiner (CCME). The conference room’s mostly original infrastructure was no longer suitable to support the progressive needs of CCME team and their stakeholders.
The scope of work for this project included a complete overhaul of the audio/visual infrastructure along with updates to the finishes and furnishings throughout the space. Two major highlights of the new A/V system were the installation of a ceiling mounted video recording system featuring an audio recorder and microphone for capturing presentations. The second highlight was the integration of a custom microscope (shown below) to aide with the documenting of trace evidence. The inability to project these microscopic images and findings previously compromised the efficacy of training CCME sought to offer the regional medical community.
