Career Launch, administered by the Justice Advisory Council, is a new opportunity youth employment program available to young people ages 18 to 24 who are disengaged from work or school. The program is open to residents of Cook County and offered at three different sites.
Career Launch provides six weeks of job readiness as well as offering additional sector specific training in several growing fields, including healthcare, transportation, hospitality and manufacturing. All training includes a stipend, and support services.
In this second year of the program, we are enrolling 150 participants in the Job Readiness program, and hope to grow participation in the coming years. We understand that youth often have been involved with the criminal justice system, and that is in no way a barrier to participation in this program.
Those interested in enrolling in Career Launch can apply online. The application period is closed for 2018, but please check back in 2019.
Feel free to download a summary of the program in the “Download” section of this page, and share widely. If you have any questions about Career Launch, feel free to contact Rebecca Janowitz at the Justice Advisory Council at Rebecca.Janowitz@cookcountyil.gov or 312-603-1134.
