Earned Sick Leave Ordinance

With the link above you can reach the Municode for Cook County where you will find Ordinance No. 16-4229 passed by the Cook County Board of Commissioners on October 5, 2016. Effective July 1, 2017, this ordinance establishes a right to paid sick leave for employees of employers in Cook County.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

On January 3, 2017, the Commission solicited topics for regulation to aid in the process of researching, drafting and adopting procedural rules, substantive regulations and model postings and notices related to the implementation of the Earned Sick Leave Ordinance.

On April 10, 2017, the Commission published draft interpretative and procedural rules for its enforcement of the Earned Sick Leave Ordinance. The Commission is soliciting public comment on these proposed rules by May 8, 2017, and will adopt a final version of these rules on or before June 1, 2017.
