All stray animals that are found by Cook County Animal and Rabies Control are taken to two shelters in Cook County.

If the animal is found north of the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290), it is taken to Golf Rose Animal Hospital, 51 E. Remington Road, Schaumburg, IL.

If the animal is found south of the expressway, it is taken to Animal Welfare League, 10305 Southwest Highway, Chicago Ridge, IL.

Once at the facility the animal is held for seven days if it is identified by rabies tag, personal tag, hospital tag or micro-chip.

If the animal is unidentified, it will be held for a minimum of three days before it is eligible for adoption or fostering.

A stray female, brown and white pitbull was found in Vollmer Woods, Flossmoor at 11:16 A.M. on Dec. 12, 2018. She was taken to Chicago Animal Control: 2714 S. Western Ave, Chicago.
