Ridgeland Avenue Public Information Open House
DoTH hosted an in person Public Information Open House for the Ridgeland Avenue Project at Freedom Middle School on Nov. 18, 2025, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the open house.
The open house included a presentation on the Ridgeland Avenue Project study, public outreach, existing conditions, proposed improvements and next steps. Over 25 participants attended the Public Information Open House. Materials displayed at the open house are available for viewing via the links below.

Project Overview
DoTH is proposing improvements to Ridgeland Avenue from Pershing Road to Ogden Avenue and 26th Street to Roosevelt Road in the City of Berwyn. The purpose of this project is to improve pavement conditions, enhance pedestrian crossings and improve bus stop operations and amenities.
The proposed improvements along the corridors include:
- Resurfacing deteriorated asphalt pavement
- Providing new pavement markings to better define travel lane and parking lanes
- Enhancing pedestrian crosswalks. including adding new curb extensions in select locations
- Coordinating with Pace to improve public bus operations and amenities
Project Timeline
DoTH, in coordination with the City of Berwyn, is nearing completion of the preliminary engineering and environmental (Phase I) study for this project. The project team developed an initial design, conducted environmental and engineering studies and coordinated with the public to determine a preferred alternative for these corridors.
DoTH is finalizing the Phase I study for this project in 2026. After approval of the Phase I study, DoTH and the City of Berwyn will seek grant funding for future phases of the project. At the earliest, construction would begin in 2028 or 2029, pending funding availability.
