Filing Orders of Protection for Elder Clients: Remedies Available under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act for Victims 60 Years and Older

<p>This continuing legal education seminar will educate lawyers representing elder clients on how to obtain an Order of Protection in Cook County as well as the remedies available to victims of elder abuse.</p><p>An Order of Protection is an effective legal cause of action for elder clients that have been victimized by family members, intimate partners, or in-home caregivers. This session will first examine the practical steps of filing for an Order of Protection in Cook County including drafting effective, persuasive affidavits.&nbsp;<br>This session will then examine specific remedies available for victims 60 years and older including financial compensation and protection from financial exploitation.
