To better serve taxpayers, Commissioner Cabonargi is organizing taxpayer appeal seminars throughout CookCounty. These seminars are opportunities for homeowners to seek relief in their property tax assessment through the Board of Review appeal process. The presentation will explain how to file a Board of Review appeal and how an appeal is granted. Attendees are asked to bring their property tax bills in order to more efficiently file an appeal. Staff from Commissioner Cabonargi’s office will be available to answer questions and help complete appeal forms. The only requirement for a taxpayer to appeal a property assessment is a completed complaint form filed in person, by U.S.mail, or for the first time online at www.CookCountyBoardofReview.com, before the township appeal period closes. The Cook County Board of Review is a quasi-judicial agency responsible for adjudicating assessment appeals for all property in CookCounty. Last year the Board reviewed over 380,000 appeals.
