UPCOMING FILMS IN THE FOREST

No need to dim the lights—Mother Nature will take care of that. No worries about leg room—there is plenty of open space. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the show at Films in the Forest, the Forest Preserve District’s new series of films about—and in—the great outdoors. Each month a different feature film with a nature connection will be presented along with family-friendly activities that correlate to the film’s theme. Screenings are free and will take place monthly at different locations all over the county. Screenings begin at dusk, around 8:30. Families are encouraged to pack a picnic dinner and head out to enjoy an evening of fun, entertainment and relaxation at scenic natural preserve venues. The series is sure to offer something for everyone and is a great opportunity to connect to nature in a new way. UPCOMING FILMS IN THE FOREST We Bought A Zoo July 10, 6:30 p.m. Cummings Square, 536 N. Harlem, River Forest Celebrate the artistry and life of Maurice Sendak with our first ever “swim-in movie.” We’ll start at 6:30 p.m. with fun activities related to Sendak’s award winning book, making wild things and building boats. At dusk the pool will turn into a movie house and we’ll show the 2009 film based on Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s story, in which Max, a disobedient little boy sent to bed without his supper, creates his own world: a forest inhabited by ferocious wild creatures that crown Max as their ruler.
