The Zoning Board of Appeals is a governmental agency with a Board made up of seven Members: five voting members who shall be appointed by the President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners w/ advice and consent of the Cook County Board of Commissioners; and two Ex-Officio non-voting Members. Their primary duty is to aid the public in considering all rezoning appeals pertaining to land uses in the unincorporated areas.
The Zoning Board of Appeals is conscientious of cultural conditions in all communities. The Board’s first concern is the interest of the public when determining zoning requests, whether it be the applicants views or that of the objectors.

Public Hearing Locations:
Regular hearings of the Cook County Zoning Board of Appeals are scheduled to take place at 69 West Washington Street, 22nd Floor Conference Room, Chicago, Illinois 60602 at 1:00 PM on the 1st Wednesday of the month, except when the 1st Wednesday falls on a designated County holiday. For those instances, the meeting will be held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Required notices will be posted with the date and time. If a different location is required, it will be listed in the public notice.
