The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved planning, design and construction contracts this week to continue advancing transportation-related projects for the County’s Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH). These vital projects support the regional economy by improving the state of good repair, operations, safety and connectivity.
Burnham | $2,575,000
Professional design engineering services to construct a new bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Brainard Avenue and four railroad tracks providing a connection to the adjacent bicycle and pedestrian facilities in the Village of Burnham, the City of Chicago and the nearby Metra Hegewisch station.
Chicago | $2,150,000
Professional design engineering services for the reconstruction of Butler Drive in the Illinois International Port District from 130th Street to Doty Avenue.
Maywood | $4,200,000
Professional engineering services to study a grade separation of 1st Avenue at the Union Pacific railroad tracks.
Touhy Avenue | $87,200,000
Construction contract to reconstruct Touhy Avenue, between Elmhurst Road and Mount Prospect Road to provide bridge over the Union Pacific railroad tracks, new ramps connecting to the upcoming Tollway I-490, intersection improvements along Elmhurst Road and a new shared use path for bicycles and pedestrians.
South Cook County | $600,000
Professional planning services to study crossing improvements for bicyclists, pedestrians and transit users across interstates in the region.
