Cook County Board Approves Funding to Improve Transportation Throughout Cook County

The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved planning, design and construction contracts today to continue the pipeline of transportation-related projects for the County’s Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH). These vital projects advance multi-modal projects throughout Cook County to improve state of good repair, operations, safety and support the regional economy.  

 

Barrington Township | $250,000 

Resurfacing of various township roads to modernize local infrastructure. 

 

Brookfield | $450,000 

Construction of Metra’s Hollywood/Zoo Stop station improvement project with new customer amenities such as warming shelters, bike racks, ADA-compliant digital displays on both platforms. 

 

Countywide | $4,881,765 

Bulk rock salt for winter snow and ice removal operations 

 

Countywide | $3,500,000 

New snowplows for each of the County’s four maintenance districts. 

 

Calumet City | $300,000 

Construction of roadway curb bumpouts to provide stormwater collection, shorten pedestrian crossing distances and calm traffic along Wentworth Avenue at various locations. 

 

Justice | $184,534 

Construction of the village-wide sidewalk improvement project along Oak Grove Avenue and 76th Place, connecting gaps in the existing system. 

 

Maywood | $4,200,000 

Professional preliminary engineering services to study a new grade separation of First Avenue at the Union Pacific railroad. 

 

Northfield | $1,869,604 

Bridge repairs on East Lake Avenue at the C&NW railroad. 

 

Northlake | $164,495 

Resurfacing and sidewalk improvements along Victoria Drive from Northlake Middle School to Roy Avenue. 

 

Oak Forest | $416,000 

Construction of the Central Avenue segment of the Natalie Creek Trail Project, providing a critical link to the broader trail network. 

 

Oak Lawn | $306,201 

Construction of improvements to the Wolfe Wildlife Bike Trail Project to provide a widened and ADA compliant trail to strengthen local connectivity to surrounding areas. 

 

Orland Park | $150,000 

Professional design engineering services for safety improvements at the 94th Avenue and 159th Street intersection.  

 

Palos Hills | $270,257 

Construction of intersection improvements at 111th Street and 86th Avenue as part of the Cal Sag Bike and Walking Path extension project, providing a connection between two existing trail systems. 

 

Pheonix | $430,000 

Resurfacing of 7th Avenue from 151st Street to 155th Street 

 

Prospect Heights | $111,200 

Professional engineering services for the Willow Road Sidewalk Connectivity Project to construct a new segment of sidewalk along the north side of Willow Road between Elmhurst Road and Schoenbeck Road.   

 

River Grove | $550,000 

Roadway resurfacing and sidewalk reconstruction along North Oak Street, Herrick Avenue and Maple Street. 

 

River Forest | $62,786 

Professional preliminary engineering services for the Washington Boulevard pedestrian safety and traffic calming improvement project, providing a connection to the Des Plaines River Trail.  

 

Skokie | $1,906,427 

Professional design engineering services for future reconstruction of Crawford Avenue from Oakton Street to Golf Road. 

 

Streamwood | $250,000 

Construction of a shared use path for bicyclists and pedestrians on Bartlett Road between Streamwood Boulevard and Timber Trail. 

 

Tinley Park | $250,000 

Resurfacing and sidewalk construction along 179th Street from 94th Avenue to 80th Avenue.  

 

Southern Cook County | $599,956 

Professional planning services to study crossing improvements for bicyclists, pedestrians and transit users across interstates in the region. 

 

Wheeling | $100,000 

Professional engineering services to improve school zone safety for pedestrians at twelve neighborhood school campuses throughout the village.
