Cook County Board Approves Funding to Improve Transportation Throughout Cook County

The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved planning, design and construction contracts today to continue the pipeline of transportation-related projects for the County’s Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH). These vital projects advance multimodal projects throughout Cook County to improve state of good repair, operations, safety and support the regional economy.

Arlington Heights | $251,500
Professional design engineering services for the Euclid Avenue from Rohlwing Road to Rand Road, which includes resurfacing, curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveway removal and replacement, ADA improvements, loop detector replacement, pavement striping and traffic signal improvements.

Calumet Park | $350,000
Design and construction to expand the scope of the 127th Street reconstruction project by incorporating alley upgrades, green infrastructure and ADA-compliant sidewalk.

Countywide | $1,000,000
Vehicle lifts with garage and fleet maintenance equipment for each of the County’s four maintenance districts.

Elmwood Park | $4,000,000
Professional design engineering, right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation for a highway/railroad grade separation on Grand Avenue at the Metra/UP Railroad.

Niles | $80,000
Professional design engineering services for a 2,200-foot multimodal safety improvement project along Oakton Street between Waukegan Road and Caldwell Avenue, incorporating an improved 10-foot path, ADA-compliant accommodations and enhanced safety buffers to serve all modes of transportation.

Oak Lawn | $16,651.26
Construction of the Central Avenue resurfacing project along Central Avenue from south of Leslie Lane to 159th Street.

Oak Park | $250,000
Construction of approximately 10.6 miles of the bike boulevard and neighborhood greenway bike system, incorporating a range of treatments designed to improve rider experience and manage vehicle traffic.

Pace Suburban Bus | $176,000
Construction of pavement striping, signage installation and related improvements to establish an eastbound Business and Transit Access (BAT) lane along Cermak Road in Berwyn and North Riverside.

Pace Suburban Bus | $180,000
Arlington Heights-Rolling Meadows On Demand Service Expansion pilot. The service will double the size of the current service zone and encompass major destinations such as Harper College and the Palatine Metra station and increase the weekday hours of service.

Richton Park | $240,000
Design engineering services for Richton Road reconstruction and conversion to a two-way roadway.
