Cook County Board Approves Funding to Improve Transportation Throughout Cook County

The Cook County Board of Commissioners approved planning, design and construction contracts today to continue the pipeline of transportation-related projects for the County’s Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH). These vital projects advance multi-modal projects throughout Cook County to improve state of good repair, operations, safety and support the regional economy.

Countywide | $1,730,678.41
Rehabilitation of nine bridges across the County: Devon Avenue over Salt Creek; Lake Cook Road over Buffalo Creek; Central Avenue over Illinois Central Railroad; Sunset Ridge Road over North Branch Chicago River; Wheeling Road over McDonald Creek; Edens Frontage Road over Skokie River; Wolf Road over Salt Creek; Schoenbeck Road over McDonald Creek and West Lake Avenue over Des Plaines River. Work includes, but is not limited to, the removal and replacement or repair of pavement adjacent to and over the bridges.

Skokie | $4,160,381.15
Reconstruction of Oakton Street from Skokie Boulevard to McCormick Boulevard. Work includes resurfacing side streets on Knox and Kilbourn Avenues, parkway greenspace improvements at Kolmar Avenue, installation of streetscape elements and installation of brick pavers at select locations.
