Tax Incentives to Support Economic Growth Approved by Cook County Board

Preckwinkle applauds actions to create, retain jobs in region

Cook County commissioners today approved proposals by President Toni Preckwinkle’s Bureau of Economic Development (BED) that will provide tax incentives to business in four suburban communities, as well as retain and create jobs. 

Four separate Incentives were approved in the following communities:  Bellwood, Dolton, Lynwood and Niles.  These incentives should yield creation of an estimated 44 new jobs, retain an estimated 162 jobs and support approximately 45 construction jobs. 

"Helping businesses create and retain good-paying jobs is a major focus of our economic development efforts," said Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle. "The companies receiving these incentives have demonstrated their commitment to their communities and our residents, and deserve our assistance in growing their businesses.”

Details on the incentives follow:

•    Applicant Name: W-R Industries, Inc. or an entity to be named

     Business Name: W-R Industries, Inc.

     Project Address: 2715 Grant Avenue, Bellwood 

     Type: 6b

     Project Description: The applicant intends to purchase the property and substantially rehab and occupy it with W-R Industries Inc., a manufacturer, warehouse and distributor of products used for offset printing. Due to growth needs, the company will be relocating, expanding to the subject 30,000-square-foot property and putting its former building up for sale.

     Estimated full-time jobs created -- 1; estimated full-time jobs retained -- 7; estimated construction jobs supported ¬– 15.

•    Applicant Name: Aby Petroleum, Inc. (ABI)

     Business Name: Checkers Hamburgers

     Project Address: 1006 E. Sibley Blvd., Dolton

     Type: Class 8

     Project Description: The applicant intends to substantially rehabilitate the subject property and occupy the site as Checkers Hamburgers.

     Estimated full-time jobs created -- 25; estimated full-time jobs retained -- 20; estimated construction jobs supported – 10.

•    Applicant Name: Glenwood-Dyer Road LLC

     Business Name: Preferred Window and Door

     Project Address: 3595 Glenwood Dryer Road, Lynwood

     Type: Class 8

     Project Description: The applicant intends to substantially rehabilitate the site and a related entity. Preferred Window and Door, a full-service commercial/residential window, door, garage door supplier/installer will occupy the site. The company is relocating from a smaller location within the same municipality.

     Estimated full-time jobs created -- 8; estimated full-time jobs retained -- 24; estimated construction jobs supported – 15.

•    Applicant Name: SSN Group LLC or its nominee

     Business Name: LSL Healthcare

     Project Address: 6200 W. Howard, Niles

     Type: Class 6b

     Project Description: LSL Healthcare will occupy the site for light manufacturing and distribution of disposable medical devices.

     Estimated full-time jobs created -- 10; estimated full-time jobs retained -- 111; estimated construction jobs supported – 5.
