About the Chicago Cook Technology Academy
The Chicago Cook Technology Academy is a partnership between Cook County and National Able Network that provided veterans with no-cost technology training and career development opportunities. Through the intensive 13-week program, participants gained in-demand skills in cloud development, cloud administration, computer networking and Microsoft Azure technologies.
Training was delivered by expert instructors from IT Career Lab, a division of National Able Network, through in-person and virtual learning. Participants prepared for industry-recognized certifications while building the technical and professional skills needed to enter the growing technology workforce.
In total, the program graduated more than 140 veteran and service member participants, helping many transition into technology careers and strengthening the talent pipeline for employers across the region. The Chicago Cook Technology Academy demonstrates how public-private partnerships can create meaningful career pathways for veterans while addressing workforce needs in high-demand industries.
Veterans Forward at National Able Network
Following the success of the Chicago Cook Technology Academy, National Able Network launched Veterans Forward to continue connecting veterans, service members and military spouses with career training, certification opportunities and workforce development resources. The program expands access to employment and training opportunities across a variety of high-demand industries.
Veterans Forward provides participants with individualized career guidance, access to industry-recognized training programs and support services designed to help participants successfully transition into civilian careers, including resume development, interview coaching, job search assistance and salary negotiation support.
