Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network
Cook County Veterans Affairs partners with the Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network (IL-AFLAN) to connect veterans, service members and their families with free civil legal assistance. Through a statewide network of legal aid organizations, law schools and pro bono attorneys, IL-AFLAN helps individuals address legal challenges that may impact their housing, finances, employment, benefits and overall well-being.
By connecting eligible residents with experienced legal professionals, IL-AFLAN helps ensure veterans and military families have access to the legal support they need to remain stable and successful in their communities.

Cook County Legal Aid for Housing and Debt
Cook County and various community partners launched Cook County Legal Aid for Housing and Debt (CCLAHD), an initiative that helps residents resolve eviction, foreclosure, debt and tax deed issues.

Cook County Veterans Treatment Court
The Cook County Veterans Treatment Court is specifically designed for individuals who have served in the U.S. military and have become involved in the criminal justice system. Participating veterans have been arrested and charged with non-violent crimes such as drugs and theft.
Cook County Veterans Treatment Court aims to assist veterans, reduce their risk of further involvement in the criminal justice system in the future and improve their overall quality of life through combined efforts of the treatment court and community.
