Cook County Animal and Rabies Control provides low cost rabies vaccinations and microchips to all Cook County residents. Please review schedule to see when we will be in your area. We look forward to serving our community and having another successful year.
For several months every year (two days of the week), Cook County Animal and Rabies Control traverses the County in their mobile animal disaster vehicle providing rabies vaccinations and/or microchips to the dogs, cats and ferrets. The service is for Cook County residents. This assures the public health by increasing the availability of life protecting rabies vaccinations to the segment of responsible pet owners at an affordable cost. Our high visibility in every area in the County also reminds all pet owners that rabies vaccinations are required by law and maintains a pet’s good health. The cost of a vaccination is $7 for a 1 year vaccination, $21 for 3 year vaccination and $9 for a 1 year ferret shot. All residents must show a valid identification or proof of residency in Cook County. We only accept cash or check -- no debit or credit cards.
Cook County Animal and Rabies Control is holding three Microchip Clinics for the 2018 season. The cost to insert the microchip is $10, however the pet owner is required to pay a one-time $19.95 National registration fee to PETrac Pet recovery. At our clinics we assist the pet owner with completing the registration forms to ensure that the pet is properly registered. The microchip is not a GPS, it can not show the location of the lost pet. It is important for pet owners to register their pet with the microchip company from which the microchip was derived (forms will be provided). If pet owners did not register their pet's microchip from previous clinics please contact our office to obtain information about enrollment.
