Dental Plans

Effective December 1, 2026, Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) will become the official dental plan provider for all eligible County employees.

Your current dental coverage through Guardian remains active through November 30, 2026. The switch to BCBS happens automatically on December 1, 2026. Blue Cross Blue Shield offers a broad network of dentists. To find a primary care dentist, go to www.bcbsil.com and click on Find Care and then on Find a Dentist. 

New dental insurance cards will arrive to your home address in November 2026.

Dental coverage is provided at no charge.

The Guardian dental plans will end on November 30, 2026

Dental coverage is provided at no charge. The dental plans offer two dental exams and cleanings per year. You have a choice of two plans:

• Guardian/First Commonwealth HMO

               Provides access to services performed at participating dental HMO practices.

• Guardian/First Commonwealth PPO

               Allows you to seek dental care from dentists who either are in or out of the PPO network.

              In-network services are usually covered at a higher benefit level.
